Teen Therapy

  • Teen therapy is therapy for teenagers. Alex has extensive experience working with teens and their families in both a school and hospital setting.

Teen therapy is tailored for children ages 12-18. According to Erik Erikson, teenagers are in the process of finding their identities or may experience role confusion (“Who am I?”). Alex partners with teenagers and families to provide clarity in identity. Peers have a lot of influence on teenagers and it is important for teens to be surrounded by uplifting and confident peers. She utilizes various tools when working with teens including personality tests like Myers Briggs or enneagram or even astrology if teens are interested. By helping teens get to know themselves, they are better able to make good decisions and feel aligned and empowered. With her experience and love for teenagers, Alex is able to be a safe place for these clients to find out who they are, process stress (academics, friendships, sports, etc.), and feel confident.

Not only are teenagers struggling with identity, but they are also experiencing many body changes through puberty that can cause hormone-induced mood swings. Alex is comfortable talking to teens about puberty, sex, gender identity, sexual identity, and more. Although teens may act tough, this is a vulnerable time and these difficult topics should be discussed. If teens do not feel comfortable talking to their parents about these life challenges, therapy can be a great outlet.
