Meet Alex

Hi, I’m Alex and I am so glad you landed here. I opened my therapy private practice in 2022 and I am pleased to now offer nutrition services with a dietitian. I have continually seen the impact that the physical body has on mental health and vice versa. Partnering with a dietitian feels like a natural progression to improve the course of treatment for all of my clients.

Experience and Training: I became a licensed mental health professional in 2019 after receiving my direct therapy hours at a school district where I worked with teenagers struggling with mental health problems including depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and more. After I became licensed in 2019, I began working at Cook Children’s Hospital as a therapist specializing in psychiatric transfers of teenagers to appropriate psychiatric hospitals after suicide attempts. I also worked with children hospitalized due to a medical trauma, disease, or new diagnosis that secondarily were struggling with a mental health issue including adjustment disorder, depression, or anxiety.

In these two unique environments, healthcare and schools, I saw that trauma was the underlying component of almost every mental health crisis I saw including homelessness, childhood abuse/neglect, death of a loved one, and so on. In an effort to further help my clients heal, I became trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is the most researched therapeutic modality for trauma treatment. I have completed two EMDR trainings and I am proficient in providing EMDR to my clients.

In addition to  EMDR, I also utilize Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and aspects from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Ego States Therapy.

I look forward to meeting you or your loved one!

Meet Macy

Hello, my name is Macy. I am so happy you’re here!

I received my Bachelors of Science in Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics from Texas Tech University in 2014. I then completed the required 1,200 hour internship while also completing my Masters of Science in Sports Nutrition from Texas Woman’s University, graduating in December of 2015. I passed the board exam to become a registered dietitian in January of 2016 and have been working in the field ever since.

I built a strong foundation in clinical nutrition working both inpatient and outpatient at John Peter Smith hospital for over five years. I have also worked for a home infusion company helping patients who need tube feeding or IV nutrition, taught fitness classes at a corporate wellness center, spent time in the private practice field helping patients prepare for and recover from bariatric surgery, and contracted for a mental health company to complete annual nutritional assessments for their patients. With these positions, I have mastered medical nutrition therapy for many disease processes including diabetes, kidney disease, nutrition support, oncology nutrition and GI disease processes, and became a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), passing the standardized test in 2017 and again in 2022.

In all of these settings, I saw the impact of poor or untreated mental health conditions on patients’ nutritional status and overall wellness. My time in these positions opened my eyes to the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to health.

I am excited to use my diverse background and experience to help my community improve their health. I feel privileged to work alongside a mental health expert to offer you a holistic approach to manage or prevent chronic health diseases and discover a happier and healthier lifestyle!
